Lace Up Your Shoes for Oct. 5 Fun Run

9/17/2012

This year's Fun Run is Friday, Oct. 5.  Parents are invited to join us for the run that starts at 9 a.m.  The Fun Run is our annual fundraiser and proceeds are used to sustain PTA-sponsored programs such as field trips, science programs, Dads & Donuts, assemblies, literacy, character education, drug awareness and more. If each child can collect pledges of $35 or more, we will reach our goal of $12,000. This fundraiser allows us to keep 100 percent of the money collected at Draper Elementary.  Classes with 100 percent participation in returning pledge packets will be awarded a class activity of their choice.

Packets were sent home last week and are due Sept. 28.  Here are a few guidelines related to the Fun Run:
- The Fun Run is non competitive.
- Parents are invited to participate.  No rollerblades, bikes or pets are allowed.  Strollers are O.K.
- Meet your student(s) on the west side of the school (outside the gym).
- No traffic will be allowed to enter or leave the parking lot from 8:50 to 11 a.m.
- All runners are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt (or previous Fun Run shirt) so that runners are more easily identifiable.
- If you would like to volunteer to help with the run, contact Jamie Free, tylerandjamie@gmail.com, or Margot Day, blair.margot@gmail.com, or return the volunteer sheet included in your child's packet.

We had a very successful Fun Run this past spring and raised $45,000 to fund a mobile laptop computer lab.  The lab is up and running at the school this year.  We have moved the Fun Run to the fall so we can utilize the money during this school year.

Thank you for your continued support of Draper Elementary and its PTA programs.
