Make a Difference by Volunteering

9/07/2012

We need you to volunteer in our school. Your willingness to partner with us, in helping educate your child, is an important piece to the success of each child at Draper Elementary.  The time and effort you provide our school is greatly appreciated and we love having parent volunteers. During our Meet the Teacher Hour many of you signed up to volunteer in your child's classroom.  If you missed that opportunity and still want to offer your service, please contact your teacher directly or watch for additional sign-up sheets during Curriculum Night on Sept. 12.

As a reminder, each year all volunteers are required to complete the volunteer application online before you are able to work in our school.  That form is provided on the Canyons District's website here. Volunteer registration is now open for the 2012-13 school year.  All volunteers in schools, including members of the PTA and School Community Council, need to complete and submit the form. Our office secretaries will be checking with each of you as you sign in at the office to verify that you have completed the form for the new school year.  Please take a few minutes to fill out the form prior to your first volunteer assignment in the building.

Canyons School District also wants to thank you for volunteering!  Whether you have helped teachers to get ready for the school year, helped children safely cross the street, or helped students learn to read, Canyons School District salutes you as a treasured partner in education. Canyons’ premiere Volunteer Appreciation Week is Sept. 17 – 21. During this time, Canyons' volunteers will be honored in a Board of Education reception and recognitions event on Tuesday, Sept. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. at 9361 S. 300 East in Sandy (enter through southeast doors). All volunteers are invited to attend this special event. The Superintendent also is hosting a special PTA Presidents Luncheon as an expression of his appreciation.
