Red Ribbon Week Starts Monday

10/17/2012

Oct. 22-26 we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week.  The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to educate students about the dangers and consequences of drugs and alcohol, and violence.

Here is glance at our daily themes:

Monday:  Take Aim Against Drugs (Students will create a pledge against drugs banner)

Tuesday:  I'm a Jean-ius. I'm Drug Free.  (Wear jeans and be entered in prize drawings.)

Wednesday:  Drug Free- The "Write" Choice  (Wear red, red, red! Red pens to be used for school work.)

Thursday:  I Elect To Be Drug Free (Students will cast drug free ballots during lunch)

Friday:  Color My World Drug Free (Wear crazy colors and patterns. Election results revealed.)

During the week classes will be creating drug-free poster slogans and our students will vote on their favorites.  Awards will be given to the winning class from each grade.

Drug awareness and abuse prevention is an important topic that should not be limited to one week a year. Rather it should be an on going conversation in family life. We encourage you to spend quality time with your children and often discuss with them the values your family believes in. We hope as you discuss the activities of this Red Ribbon Week it will help you start another conversation with your children on this important topic.
