Come celebrate “International Walk To School Day” with us at Draper Elementary School on Wednesday, Oct. 5. We are encouraging everyone who can to walk to school.
We are particularly interested in receiving your thoughts on areas along your child's route that need safety improvements (i.e. crosswalks, sidewalks, signs, fences, crossing guards, etc.). We ask and encourage you to photograph and/or document areas of concern with cell phones, cameras, note paper, etc. and either email it to draperwalktoschool@gmail.com or use the drop off box that will be available to you at school.
We will then compile the concerns of the Draper Elementary community and present them to representatives of our school district and city government in an effort to begin the process of creating safer walking routes to our school. If federal funds are made available this year, we will also use this information to support a grant application.
For those of you unable to join us with the walk, please respect the walkers and help us to clean up the air that our children breathe as they enter and exit the school. We encourage you to "TURN YOUR KEY, BE IDLE FREE."
Rain or shine, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
