March is National Nutrition Month. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ hopes to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Parents are encouraged to “get their plates in shape” by:
Making half your plate fruits and vegetables;
Making at least half your grains whole;
Switching to fat-free or low-fat milk
Varying your protein choices; and
Cutting back on sodium and empty calories from solid fats and added sugars.
