With school starting in a few days, here are a few reminders for Draper Elementary students and parents:
- WHO IS MY TEACHER: Starting Aug. 17, you can log back onto Skyward Family Access and click on the 'Scheduling' tab on the left side. Once you have opened the 'scheduling' tab you will be able to see who your teacher is for the upcoming year.
- BUS ROUTES: Unsure of your bus number or stop location? You can find all the answers you need about transportation on the district website at www.canyonsdistrict.org. Select Schools, then School Locator and Bus Eligibility and follow the instructions. As many of you have noticed, the City of Draper is currently installing a sidewalk along the east side of Fort Street that connects the new walking trail to our school. Despite this addition, all of our buses that were available last year will still be available this year. Our School Community Council will look into how the sidewalk may impact future busing eligibility, but for this year everything remains as is.
- MEET YOUR TEACHER: On Friday, Aug. 24, please plan to stop by the school and meet your teacher between 2-3 p.m. during "Meet the Teacher Hour." We know that the first day of school brings all kinds of emotions with it to students, parents, and even the teachers. Some of us feel excited, some of us feel nervous, and some of us feel both. To help everyone work through these feelings we would like to invite you to come into the building, find your room, explore your room, and meet your teacher. Teachers will be able to tell you what supplies they will and will not need you to be prepared with when you come to school on Monday.
- OPEN ENROLLMENT: The Open enrollment window for 2013-14 school year is Aug. 1 through Nov. 1. If you are attending Draper Elementary on permit you will need to reapply during this window.
- CLASSES START: The first day of school for students in grades 2-6 is Aug. 27. Classes for first grade begin Aug. 28, and kindergarten classes begin Sept. 4.
- SALTA APPLICATIONS: SALTA applications will be available online at the district website start Aug. 29. They are due Sept. 24.
