Draper Elementary is seeking to honor our outstanding teachers through our Teacher of the Year program. Each year, every school in Canyons District selects a Teacher of the Year and the winning teacher receives gifts and prizes, and is honored by the Board of Education and recognized during halftime at REAL Salt Lake game. Each school’s top teacher also competes for the district's Teacher of the Year which which includes additional prizes and a nomination for Utah Teacher of the Year honors.
All Draper families are invited to nominate a Teacher of the Year during the nomination window open until Feb. 28. The nomination form is accessible by clicking here. The Teacher of the Year must have taught at least three years and be a career educator, and have passed the JPAS for the past five years. He or she also must showcase outstanding teaching practices, professionalism, and community involvement.
Each school will have a Teacher of the Year Selection Panel. This panel, which includes the principal, a school employee and a School Community Council member, considers the nominations from employees and the community (community nominations will be forwarded to the Panel by the school’s PTA Board). The Selection Panel will meet the week of March 10-14 to consider the nominations.
On Friday, March 28, schools across the District will announce their respective Teachers of the Year with school celebrations.
Thank you for taking the time to help us recognize excellence in our schools.
